Hello,
Benoit
MAIL 1:
have many customers with Mac and they are able to manage to LeonardoPro.
Here are some useful notes :
- download and upgrade on your Digifly instrument the latest firmware that you find at this link :
www.digifly.com/downloads/firmware/Upgrade_64_3_Leonardo_Pro.zip VERY IMPORTANT : when you upgrade the instrument with a new firmware all setup parameters and all your flights will be deleted.
- thanks to Stein Sorensen we can up/download waypoints and download flights of the Digifly Leonardo Pro also on a Apple MAC.
Also saving the flights as .kml or .gpx or .igc is possible. I tested the functions and it works fine now.
here's the link for this tool:
http://www.multinett.no/~stein.sorensen/body_mac.htm- be sure to install the latest USB cable driver for Mac that you find on our web site .
RS232 CABLE
real COM works much better then USB cable.
- be sure the wiring has still good connections.
USB CABLE
in case of USB please follow these notes :
1) unplug the Usb cable
2) install latest driver from this link
http://www.digifly.com/downloads/other/DIGIFLY_NEXTGEN_USB_Driver.zip (the Digifly USB adapter is based on the Prolific PL-2303 chip)
3) connect the USB cable to the PC
4) on your PC for best compatibility with almost software reassign the "Prolific" COM port to COM5 and remove all unused COM ports.
(most programs do not like COM port with higher number).
How to do it :
- go to the Device Manager (Windows Xp > Start / Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager or Windows Vista > Start / right-click on Computer / Manage / Device Manager)
- click on the plus (+) sign next to "Ports" , if the device in installed properly you will see "Prolific Usb-to-Serial Com Port (COMx)"
where "x" is the com port assigned to the cable.
- right click on the "Prolific Usb-to-Serial Com Port (COMx)" and then click on Properties
- click on Port Settings / Advanced and from the pull down menu select COM5
- reboot PC
ERROR RETRY LIMIT -5 PROBLEM
- be sure to use the correct program upgrade for your vario model
- be sure to do NOT run the program from a zipped archive , always unzip it on your hard drive.
- be sure to do NOT run the program from a removable disk, always run from your hard drive.

PROTOCOLS
The Leonardo "talks" two different protocol languages : the MLR protocol and the Digifly protocol.
MLR PROTOCOL
The MLR protocol is used to communicate directly with CompeGps , GpsDump and Maxpunkte , with these programs you can downloads any flight you want from the Leonardo logbook (in this menu move the cursor to highlight the flight you want).
The "G" record is automatically generated by these programs so the file is ready to be sent trough the web to the online contest server.
With CompeGps and GpsDump is also possible to upload the competition waypoint list to the Leonardo , for this function you need to position the cursor of the Leonardo on the "WPT COMP" menu ( do not enter in it).
To communicate with these programs (CompeGps , GpsDump and Maxpunkte) you need to select on the PC the MLR protocol and the COM port.
DIGIFLY PROTOCOL
The Digifly protocol is used to communicate with the software DigiflyVltools2009v2.2 (download it from this link
http://www.digifly.com/downloads/other/Vltools2009v22.zip ) and the software DigiflyVltoolsConfigurator_10301 (download it from this link
http://www.digifly.com/downloads/other/VltoolsConfigurator.zip )
To communicate with these two Digifly programs you need to enter in the "vltools" menu on the Leonardo vario ( you'll see a blinking text "link") .
The DigiflyVltools2009v2.2 is used for upload/download waypoint and routes. Flights downloaded with this software do NOT contains the "G" record.
The DigiflyVltoolsConfigurator_10301 is used to download the last flight from the Leonardo and it adds automatically the "G" record .
Almost online contests have already received our vali-xdg.exe (
http://www.digifly.com/downloads/other/vali-xdg.zip ) to validate our Digifly digital signature (g record).
It's very useful also to configure the whole Leonardo including page settings and custom acoustic settings.
MAIL 2
he driver from this link
http://www.digifly.com/downloads/other/DIGIFLY_NEXTGEN_USB_Driver.zip includes also MAC drivers.
On your MAC for best compatibility with almost software reassign the "Prolific" COM port to COM5 and remove all unused COM ports.
(most programs do not like COM port with higher number).
I confirm you that all works fine with MAC
